Climbing.
Tall and imposing,
Steep and treacherous.
The cliffs rise from unknown depths,
Reach to unfathomable heights.
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
The people of the world climb,
Scattered across the face.
At every height and every depth,
They struggle and strive.
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
Some aspire and ascend,
Others fear and descend,
Still more try to hold their place,
As long as they are not too low
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
An eternity I've been scaling,
Albeit lacking speed and conviction.
I aspire to great heights,
But fear they are not for me.
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
"Am I good enough to climb higher?"
The imps whisper that I am not.
Wife, family, and friends cheer me onward.
I hang suspended, fearful.
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
Prayer upon my lips,
Family in my eyes,
I strive, surge, and succeed!
The next ledge attained.
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
On new, unfamiliar footing,
The fierce winds force me back down.
One struggle later, I return.
To my dismay, the process repeats again and again.
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
Dangling by my fingers,
"Isn't this close enough?"
Sad Eyes of profound grief, watch my struggle,
I know I must continue.
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
Mustering my strength, I leap.
The gale is ineffective,
The imps are confounded
As they attack me again.
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
My footing is steady and sure.
My resolve: diamond hard, set in stone.
I declare to the forces against me,
"You shall not dislodge me again; upon this rock I declare that I am king!"
Ever climbing.
Climbing.
To stagnate is to descend.
With my beautiful family by my side
We set our sights on the next ledge; the one with the door and the inscription:
"Holiness to the Lord, the House of the Lord."
Ever climbing.
Tall and imposing,
Steep and treacherous.
The cliffs rise from unknown depths,
Reach to unfathomable heights.
