The conflict that arises in this intriguing world is enticing and easily draws you in. A fantastic set of characters helps to complete the ensemble of wonder. Each of her characters has their own quarks and personalities and it is really a joy to see how they all interact with each other, especially under some pretty difficult circumstances. There are only two minor changes that I would make to Escaping Safety, and they are so minor as to be hardly worth the effort of typing them: There was a little too much… girly romance, for my taste. But it was a crucial component to the story and barely bothered me at all. Along with that, I found myself wishing a few times for some more descriptive work about things, such as this or that person's appearance or the size and general shape of the different ships that they fly. Again, these things were hardly a deal breaker and don't actually detract from the story.
The action is enthralling and the story ends on a high note, right before hitting you with a terrible cliff hanger (and I don't mean terrible as in "bad", terrible as in you really want to pick up the second book and continue immediately). Fair warning, this is a novel that ends in the middle of the story after only wrapping up one thread of the complex adventure. It left me begging to read the next one and I cannot wait to get my hands on it and learn how these characters overcome their own demons and the power-hungry villains in order to save the day.
This is a wonderful book that I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend to everyone. You definitely will not regret taking the time to read this imaginative adventure.
